Hailey, Idaho’s local option tax is used for emergency services; maintenance, improvement and acquisition of parks; road repair, transportation enhancements and snow removal; city promotion, visitor information, special events and economic development; city improvements (library modernization, sidewalks, town square, etc.; public transit and related improvements. Since 2007, the City of Hailey has generated $7,731,059 through local option.
In May 2023, Hailey voters approved a split of their existing 1% local option tax — dedicating half a percent to “house-burdened” city residents and workers. The proposal passed with 85% voter support.
